Born in Korea, educated in Hong Kong and the U.K, artist Namgi graduated BA Hons Painting and Printmaking at the Glasgow School of Art and MA Distinction for Contemporary Art Practice: Critical Practice at the Royal College of Art.

Working with geometric tensions and architectural structures, the artist utilizes mathematic equations and arithmetics to create tangible lines and dimensional compositions with mediums such as thread and yarn on canvas.

Hoping to balance intention and preferences in visual communication of the intra and interpersonal through to the societal, Namgi hopes to capture elements of facilitating the in-between in the 21st Century.

‘It is by the gestures that touch and move us –and by the gestures that we, in timely response, are moved to make –that we must be, will be, measured and called for the second time.’ -
